November blues and budgeting

I found a second job – which i got – and now I’ve been working a lot lately. Haven’t had much time for anything else tbh.

Winter gets me a bit moody as well, so all the darkness have made me feel a little bit gloomy and unmotivated. I’ve had some awesome days as well so it’s definitely not that bad, but it is still somewhat draining when it’s all dark and rainy.

Before November started, i made a plan to use only 20€/week for groceries. So the full goal was to use only 80€/month.

At first I made a list of everything i was eating per day. And because i get one meal at work – it made my weekly list go a little bit shorter. Everything i really didn’t need – was strictly abandoned.

I visited the store only once per week, and wrote everything i had to buy on a list before going there. And while I was strolling the isles – I was calculating every product i was putting in the basket. The urges to buy some chocolate or sweets were pretty high but i was even more excited to try this experiment and succeed with it.

As the weeks gone by, it was more easier. And eventually I used only 71€ for groceries / whole month and that also included one coffee at the cafe and fries from McDonald’s, which were my small prizes for staying on the budget.

Overall i saved more than 100€ with planning everything beforehand. And tbh that makes me a bit proud.

While I was telling my experiment with my coworkers they really thought i was going nuts. They questioned if it’s even possible to use only 20€/week and i was also a bit sceptical at first but damn… I guess I proved everyone wrong then.
